Your personal Webspace
Personal Webspace | MAKE YOUR PAGE | Publicize | Resources | Functions | Storage and transfer Step 1: Making your page These instructions assume you have a suitable comfort level with using software to make a Web page. Follow these three steps for each Web page you intend to put in your personal Web space. Print this page so you can have it handy when you're not connected to the Sympatico service. Choose a Web page creation program to use to create your Web page. There are many different kinds of Web page creation programs, for all skill levels. You can use Netscape Composer to create your Web pages. You can also use Microsoft FrontPage or FrontPage Express. Please note that the Sympatico service does not support FrontPage extensions. This means that you will not be able to use FrontPage's special features, or to upload your page with FrontPage. When you have made your page, save it as a text-only file with the name index.html; The .html file extension tell a Web browser to display a text file as a Web page; using the prefix index to name your main page tells a Web browser to display that page first, as your home page, when an Internet surfer visits your Web space. **If you do not have a file in your Webspace with one of the above names, visitors to your Webspace will see an index of files therein in place of your home page. Make sure any references to images and links to other Web pages are correct. Go on to STEP 2: Checking your Web page
