How do I check to see if I have sufficient disk space?

First, check the minimum requirements to install the Sympatico essential software on your computer.

To check how much hard drive space you have available with:

Windows XP/Me/98/95
  • Click Start, then click Programs, then MS-DOS Prompt.
  • Type dir.
  • The total space free, in bytes, on your computer's hard disk will be displayed. There are 1 000 000 bytes in 1 megabyte.
Macintosh
  • Open any folder.
  • Click the View menu and click as Icons.
  • The total space available on your computer's hard disk will be displayed at the top right of the folder's window.
  • In Mac OS X, click your hard drive icon, then click the File menu and click Show Info.
Windows 3.1
  • Double-click the Main program group.
  • Double-click the MS-DOS Prompt.
  • At the DOS prompt, type dir.
  • The total space free, in bytes, on your computer's hard disk will be displayed. There are 1 000 000 bytes in 1 megabyte.
