The buttons on the toolbar at the top of your Netscape window allow you
to perform some common tasks while connected to the Internet. Clicking
a button once performs the task written on the button. The tasks are as
follows:
 |
Clicking this button
takes you back to the previous page you were viewing during your current
Internet session. |
 |
This button is the
opposite of the Back button, and moves you forward one page. |
 |
Clicking this button
takes you directly to the Sympatico Home Page. |
 |
Sometimes technical
difficulties cause a page to display improperly, causing problems
with text, images or other parts of a page. Clicking Reload retrieves
the same page again, which usually fixes the problem. |
 |
If you are in text-only
mode (because you clicked Options on the menu bar and clicked
Auto Load Images), you are receiving only the text of Web pages,
no graphics or pictures. Clicking this button will load the images
for the current page you are viewing. |
 |
Clicking this button
allows you to type an Internet address or URL
in the Open Location window that appears. Type the address (make sure
you type it correctly!) and click the Open button or just press Enter. |
 |
If you have a printer
connected to your computer, you can print the contents of the current
page by clicking this button. |
 |
Click this button to
quickly find a word or phrase in the current page only (not anywhere
else on the Internet). This can be useful when the current page is
much larger (longer or wider) than can be displayed on your computer
screen. |
 |
Sometimes, because
of delays, it takes longer than you want to wait for a page to completely
display on your computer screen. Whenever this button is red (not
grey), you can click it to stop receiving a page. |
You don't have to be connected to the Internet to read the Netscape Navigator
Handbook since it came with your Sympatico software. Look in your Sympatico
Netscape folder for a file called "Online Documentation" (Macintosh),
or "Online Books" (PC).
