Subscribing to a newsgroup is like bookmarking a Web page, since it makes finding your favourite newsgroups easy.

You don't have to pay to subscribe to a newsgroup. If you know of a newsgroup you wish to subscribe to, first click the Window menu, then click Netscape News (if you haven't already opened Netscape News), then click File, then Add Newsgroup. Type in the name of the newsgroup then click OK. Click in the box (with a Macintosh, the dot) next to the name of the newsgroup once it appears in the Article List pane. A checkmark () will appear, indicating that you are subscribed to the corresponding newsgroup.

Clicking the checkmark will remove it and unsubscribe you from the newsgroup.

Once you have subscribed to a few newsgroups, click the Options menu, then click Show Subscribed Newsgroups. Only those newsgroups to which you are subscribed will appear in the Newsgroup pane.
