Internet Tutorial [ Learn about the Internet ]
Why does my mouse pointer sometimes turn into a hand?

You will notice that when you move your mouse across your screen the familiar pointer sometimes changes to a hand. This happens when you point at underlined or coloured text and sometimes happens when you point at a picture or an icon.

Any time your mouse pointer changes to look like a hand, this spot is clickable, so click on it and see what happens. You can't break anything by clicking, so try it! These clickable spots are links (short for hyperlinks) on the World Wide Web. Click on one and you will go to another page.

(Reminder: To return to the page you came from, click on the Back arrow on the toolbar in Netscape Navigator 3.x, or Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer.)

Back Why is some text underlined? Why is the image in the upper right-hand corner of my browser window sometimes animated? Next
