Internet Tutorial [ Learn
about the Internet ]
What is e-mail? E-mail (electronic mail) is a way to send messages to others via the Internet in electronic form. You write e-mail as you would write a letter using a word processor such as Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. The difference is in how you send e-mail: instead of printing out the message and sending it via the postal system, you simple click "Send". The e-mail should arrive at its destination within a matter of seconds or minutes, depending on where it is headed. Sending an e-mail message is simple using or Netscape Messenger (if you have Netscape Communicator), or Netscape Mail (if you have Netscape Navigator 3.x), or Outlook Express (if you have Microsoft Internet Explorer). All you need to know is the recipient's e-mail address. To receive e-mail from others, you must give them your e-mail address, which was provided to you when you registered for the Sympatico service. Forgot your E-mail address? Here are instructions on how to find out what your e-mail address is. Once you have installed the Sympatico software, you can get your e-mail right away. However, you may want to set up another e-mail program, or your software might have become corrupted and lost your settings. If you need to set up your e-mail software, please look at our e-mail settings page. You can find out more about your Sympatico e-mail account, address and password.
