INTERNET | Sympatico Service | Computers and Modems Filtering e-mail (and e-mail spam) Using filters, you can have your incoming messages automatically placed in specific folders, or even deleted, based on the subject line, the sender's e-mail address, or words in the body of the message. One popular use of filters is to separate home and work e-mail. Work e-mail could be put in a different folder, to keep it distinct from your home e-mail. Filters can also be used to delete known spam. You could set up a filter that deletes all mail that has "MONEY" in the subject or body, for instance. Filtering will only work with mail that contains the criteria you set. If you set up a filter to delete mail that contains "$" and you receive spam that does not contain that character, then the spam will not be filtered. Filtering does not actually remove the problem of spam. However, it might make your e-mail reading experience more pleasant. Using e-mail filters with Microsoft
