Modems come in all different shapes, sizes, speeds and capabilities. Some fit inside your computer; others come in a separate box. The Sympatico service supports most modems that are 14.4 kbps (the recommended minimum) or faster. If you want to connect a different modem to your computer (like a newer, faster one), you should find out how to install it from the manuals that came with your modem. If these are not available, consult someone at your local computer store. Please also see Modems that do not work with the Sympatico software.
