The Sympatico Roaming software download page
Please note that you must have the Sympatico Internet software installed on your computer (with Netscape Communicator 4.04 or newer), and you must have a current Sympatico Internet account, in order to use the Sympatico Internet Roaming software. Otherwise, you will have to configure your settings manually for roaming.
Note for customers roaming in the Greater Toronto Area: The Windows and Macintosh software now works with 10 digit dialing.
1. Check whether your browser will work with the Sympatico roaming software:(This checks that your browser is a Sympatico edition of Netscape Communicator, that Java and Javascript are enabled, and that you also have the Sympatico Account Setup software installed on your computer; all are required to use the Sympatico roaming software.)

Windows
95/98/NT 4.0/2000/Me (file size=913 KB) Once you have downloaded the software, exit Netscape Communicator, then locate the downloaded file roamwin.exe on your hard drive. Double-click this file to install the roaming software. Follow the instructions on the installer screens. To activate the roaming software, locate and double-click the Sympatico Account Setup icon in your Sympatico directory. If prompted, click to choose "Overwrite the Selected account". Don't worry, you can always restore your original settings later. You may be alerted with a "Java Security" window. Click Grant to continue. |
Power
Macintosh (file size=525 KB) NOTE: This software will not work if you are using MacOS 8.5 or greater. Once you have downloaded the software (you will be prompted for a save location on your hard drive), quit Netscape Communicator, then locate the unstuffed file RoamingInstaller on your hard drive. Double-click this file to install the roaming software. If you get an error message when you double-click the file, rebuild the desktop file on your Macintosh and download it again. Follow the instructions on the installer screens. (If you can't find this file, look for roammac.hqx, then double-click it. If it doesn't automatically unstuff to create RoamingInstaller, you may need to read about using Stuffit Expander.) To activate the roaming software, locate and double-click the Sympatico Account Setup icon in your Sympatico folder. If prompted, click to choose "Overwrite the Selected account". Don't worry, you can always restore your original settings later. You may be alerted with a "Java Security" window. Click Grant to continue. |
After you have downloaded and installed the roaming software (it should take about 3 minutes with a 56 Kbps modem), return to the Automatic setup instructions for roaming to find out how to use the Sympatico Account Setup software for roaming.
NOTE: This roaming software must be installed in the Sympatico directory on your hard drive. Please read the Sympatico roaming FAQ before installing the roaming software. Sympatico roaming software is not available for Windows 3.1 or non PowerPC Macintosh. However, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh users can configure their settings manually.
